美國航空暨太空總署（NASA）堅稱，2012年12月21日不會是世界末日。

NASA發表這種罕見聲明，為的是要破除網路和一部好萊塢新片助長的謠言。有些網站說，有個不規律運行的行星即將與地球相撞，NASA卻知情不報，但NASA說，這根本是「網路謠言」。

原文：The world will not come to an end on December 21, 2012, NASA insisted in a rare campaign to dispel rumors fueled by the Internet and a new Hollywood movie. Some websites have accused the US space agency of concealing the truth about the existence of a wayward planet about to collide with the earth, but NASA denounced such stories as an "Internet hoax."
